The information technology (IT) field is growing faster than most other sectors and creating new occupations along the way. As a result, many campus-based and online colleges are collaborating with members of this lucrative industry to create degree programs in emerging areas, such as predictive analytics.

DePaul University recently announced the launch of a masters degree in this field, which was created through a partnership with IBM. This course of study is intended to answer the demand for business intelligence and analytics professionals, which is expected to grow greatly over the next two to three years.

Industries that are expected to see the greatest need for these workers include the healthcare, green construction, clean energy, education, public service and transportation sectors.

In an effort to prepare students for these roles, the curriculum will focus on several skills that are necessary to success in this field, including the ability to analyze expansive datasets, develop modeling solutions that allow for quicker decision-making, understand marketing and client relations management and explain highly technical information to a business audience.
