University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee adds to its masters degree offerings

Officials with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have announced that the school has launched a new online masters degree in administrative leadership and supervision, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

The new program, which has the same academic standards as the school's on-campus degree offering, is designed for working professionals who are looking for advancement in various areas related to higher education, including faculty and organizational development, program planning, evaluation and coordination as well as institutional advancement and administration.

Graduates of the program may find positions as student advisers, student housing specialists and managers of support programs for underrepresented students.

"Because students study at their own time and pace, the online program offers a flexible approach to assignments and coursework with a students-first attitude," said a UW-M news release.

The university's new masters degree program requires students to complete 33 credits, and can be finished in as few as two years.

In 2008, more than 4.6 million students took at least one online course - a 17 percent increase over the previous year.
