University of Colorado to integrate green design into MBA curriculum
School administrators at the University of Colorado have announced they will begin offering a building efficiency and design course to students in the school's MBA program, the Daily Camera reports.
The pilot class, which is sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is intended to serve as preparation for the USGBC's Green Associate exam. Over the course of six weeks, students will learn about topics such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources as well as indoor environmental quality.
Students at the school will be able to take the class at a discounted price of $95. According to the Green Building Certification Institute website, similar online courses - including application and renewal fees - could cost as much as $300 per student.
There are currently 26 students enrolled in two sections of pilot course. If the program proves successful, school officials intend to make it a permanent requirement of the university's MBA program in real estate.
Brad Weinig, organizer of the course, told the media outlet that he expects the program to be popular, as few courses of study offer exam preparation classes.
