Babson College, whose undergraduate entrepreneurship program has been ranked number one by U.S. News & World Report, has announced it will launch an MBA program that will be taught partly on campus and partly via online courses.

The school's San Francisco MBA is an accelerated, part-time program that takes 24 month to complete, and it is designed for professionals who want to advance their careers while earning a degree.

Pending approval by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the program will begin in March 2010 and offer a blend of 18 on-site meetings approximately every six weeks at Mission Bay Conference Center with distance learning. The online components will consist of wikis, blogs and synchronous classroom, and will be accessible at students' convenience.

Online universities or schools that offer online degree programs may be particularly attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do it in a traditional setting.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates median annual earnings of wage and salary for managers in May 2006 were $85,230. The middle 50 percent earned between $58,230 and $128,580.
