Online MBA program at the University of Scranton expands

Wednesday, Sep 8 2010 5:21PM

Professionals in the business industry may find themselves wanting to further their education to help their companies grow. Fortunately, the University of Scranton has added a new concentration to its online MBA program.

The school recently expanded their MBA curriculum to give students the option to focus on enterprise resource planning (ERP). The ERP program is geared toward business professionals and can be completed online. Michael Mensah, dean of the school's management, says that someone studying the courses "can be in a prime position to make exceptional improvements in efficiency and performance at their organizations."

The ERP system is used to manage data between businesses or from the outside. This information could include files from human resources as well as companies' financial software. Aberdeen Group, a research company, reports that 70 percent of the highest grossing companies in 2007 used this type of system.

Computer and information systems managers hold just one of the many professions in the business field that are continuing to grow. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that this field will produce almost 50,000 new jobs over the next eight years.

The focus of this online MBA may be a good way for professionals to pursue job growth but still work at their company.
