Online masters program launched to benefit busy professionals

A masters degree can be a major boost to working professionals looking to advance their careers, but the time commitment required by most traditional programs can often make it difficult to stay at their job in school.

But an increasing number of individuals are finding that online business degrees allow students to attend classes and complete work on their own schedule.

For example, Saint Joseph's University recently began its entire master's degree in Organizational Development and Leadership online.

The program's director, Felice Tilin, said that online degrees like this makes the benefits of higher learning more available to people who might not have had access before.

“Offering the master’s degree in the online format opens up this exciting program to potential students around the country and the world,” she said. “We are very excited to educate strong, inspired leaders who are innovative and can rise to the challenges of the 21st century.”

PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of masters degrees ranged from $43,212 to $93.652 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
