Online master's degrees in education expand for changing technology
Education is the second largest industry in the U.S. and employs approximately 13.5 million professionals, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Individuals may discover that schools are increasing their master's programs so that students can obtain a degree through a Web-based setting.
For example, Fresno Pacific University recently added this option to its offerings, according to The Business Journal. A master's in educational technology will now be provided through online courses.
The degree is for teachers who would like to integrate technology into their classrooms, ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Professionals who are already working in education may find this is a convenient way to obtain a degree. Individuals will be able to keep their current position while they enroll into courses and complete a master's without having to compromise their daily routine.
Enrollees must have already completed a bachelor's program, submit three references and finish a thesis prior to earning this degree.
Similar Web-based programs could benefit educators who are working, as well as individuals who are raising a family. The BLS reports that there will be 468,600 new positions created for professionals who teach kindergarten through 12th grades over the next eight years.
