Writing professionals who wish to accelerate their careers may consider enrolling in online courses in business, such as the one that will be offered by WritingCoach.com.

The website, which offers career development coaching for freelance writers, has announced the launch of a six-month group program to give these professionals a foundation in business.

As many as 30 individuals who choose to enroll in the inaugural course will receive training in project management, sales and marketing, financial decision-making, technology use and outsourcing. Students will learn to apply these principles to their freelancing endeavors.

While the curriculum will be offered primarily online, enrollees will also have access to training calls, question-and-answer sessions, MP3 recordings, step-by-step action plans, resource recommendations and accountability check-ins.

The program is intended to "transform freelance writers into outstanding small-business owners who can successfully navigate media industry turmoil and seize emerging opportunities to serve readers and thrive financially," said Maya Payne Smart, the company's founder.

Members of the writing industry may choose to enroll in similar programs at online universities, which may allow them to complete freelance work while they enhance their qualifications.
