Online degree programs create opportunities for MBA students
Students who enroll in MBA programs at campus-based or online universities may find outlets through which they can apply their business knowledge, such as the Business Strategy Game Simulation.
The competition, which was created by the University of Alabama, invites teams of MBA students from more than 100 colleges to compete against one another in an online format.
Competitors are challenged to use what they have learned in their degree programs to run and achieve high returns on equity for athletic footwear companies.
Team members are required to work together to make business decision regarding workforce compensation, the company's website, sales, marketing, finance as well as plant, distribution and warehouse operations.
This year, the first-place team consisted of students from Ashland University, a school that allows MBA candidates to pursue their degrees through hybrid online courses.
Similar contests "can help students make the connection between theoretical knowledge and professional challenges they will face in the real business world," said Steve Pool, a professor at the school.
Working adults may choose to boost their business careers by enrolling in MBA programs at online colleges.
