Online degree program aims to help nurses boost their careers
In an effort to help working nurses earn the educational qualifications they will need to move to the next level of their career, Jacksonville University has announced the launch of an online masters program.
Although the coursework will be available in an entirely web-based format, the curriculum itself will not stray far from the campus-based version of the program. Additionally, the online courses will be taught by the same professors who appear in the school's classrooms.
Individuals who enroll in this program will have the opportunity to choose between two specializations. The nursing education track will prepare students for careers as clinical nurse educators or assistant professors, while degree seekers pursuing a nursing administration specialization may be qualified for chief nursing officer or nurse administrator positions.
School officials say that the program is intended for working nurses who wish to earn their masters degree without falling behind on their work and family responsibilities.
"The advanced education that our programs provide will empower nurses with the ability to compete for more rewarding jobs in their chosen specialization," said Judith M. Erickson, dean of the college's School of Nursing.
