Online degree candidates may join job search groups
Individuals who are pursuing MBA degrees at campus-based or online universities may benefit from the offerings of support groups for jobseekers, as many schools are beginning to offer these services.
Colleges such as the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and the University of California at San Diego's Rady School of Management have recently reported the development of groups on their campuses that help MBA candidates and degree holders face the difficult job market, BusinessWeek reports.
A recent article in the Financial Times suggested MBA students can consult alumni to help them launch their careers, but warned that today's degree holders are also having trouble staying employed.
As a result, MBA programs across the country have created groups to help students and graduates alike, which may be student-led or sponsored by school officials.
Many of these organizations were created to address the fact that "most of these students" who are still unemployed "are doing everything right, and in a good economy they would have had four or five job offers," said Robin Darmon, director of Rady's MBA Career Connections office.
Jobseekers who are searching for positions in business may consider taking online courses while they look for employment in order to become more appealing to prospective employers.
