Online degree candidates may benefit from career placement services

Nontraditional students who are pursuing higher education may be able to further their careers through professional development services, such as the one that will be offered by the University of Delaware.

The university's Division of Professional and Continuing Studies has announced it will partner with Careerminds, an online outplacement and career transition service provider, to help its students move into a professional environment.

Students who have completed one of the school's certificate, part-time or online degree offerings will be able to take advantage of the company's MyBrand program.

Participants in the three-month program will have online access to content, tools and resources that will help them turn their qualifications into a brand that can stand out among other jobseekers.

Dayle Thorpe, director of the university's academic and professional programs, said the program is intended to "address the growing need of assisting [the school's] students after they finish a program" and help them "prepare to reenter the workforce."

Jobseekers wishing to make themselves more marketable to employers may consider enrolling in online universities that offer similar career development assistance programs.
