Online courses may help students compete for fellowship opportunities

Students and professionals who enroll in online business programs may be better prepared to compete for career-boosting fellowships, such as the one that will be distributed to a MBA student at the University of California, Irvine.

Family and colleagues of Luis Villalobos have announced the launch of the Luis Villalobos Endowed Fellowship in Entrepreneurship, which will be open to students enrolled in a MBA program at the university's Paul Merage School of Business.

Villalobos, who died at the beginning of October, founded Tech Coast Angels, an investor group that provides funding for early-stage, high-growth companies developing in California.

The fellowship is being created to honor the memory of Vallalobos and "continue his mission to help and assist young entrepreneurs," said Richard Sudek, president of Tech Coast Angels Orange County.

To be eligible for the fellowship, students must meet the requirements for admission at the California business school and express an interest in entrepreneurship or desire to start a new company.

Students and professionals may consider enrolling in online business courses that could help them take advantage of similar opportunities that come with MBA programs.
