Online business degrees may lead to managerial positions, career confidence

Despite the weak economy, investment managers who learn crisis management skills through on-campus or online education programs can remain confident in their ability to face tough times.

A new poll from Northern Trust Global Advisors has found widespread optimism concerning growth over the next year, which marks a significant change from last year's survey.

Of more than 60 investment managers who were polled, a total of 83 percent said they expected corporate earnings to increase in the upcoming quarter and 84 percent reported that they believed global growth would pick up over the next six months.

However, three-quarters of respondents expressed concern that interest rates would remain stable, as banks may fear that raising rates prematurely could stunt progression toward recovery.

Chris Vella, global director of research for NTGA, said "multiple managers cited the excess production capacity unearthed in their company research that would counteract any near-term inflationary pressures" to explain their expectations for growth.

Survey participants ranked the technology, energy, industrials, healthcare and materials sectors their top five most desirable market segments.

Online courses may provide business professionals with marketable skills and new methods they can use to address the challenges of a fluctuating market.
