Online business degree holders may enroll in top MBA programs

Working adults who take online courses in business may hone skills that could help them gain acceptance into highly ranked MBA programs, such as those recognized by the Aspen Institute.

The education company released its latest list of business schools in the 2009-2010 edition of its survey and guidebook, Beyond Grey Pinstripes.

The guide examines masters business programs at 149 business schools located in 24 countries around the world.

Business schools featured in the book were selected based on their demonstrated ability to prepare their graduates for the environmental, social and ethical challenges they will face in their business careers.

For the first time since the institute began distributing its rankings, a Canadian school has topped the list. York University's Schulich School of Business in Toronto received the highest ranking for its wide variety of course offerings and the high number of scholarly articles published by its faculty.

Rich Leimsider, director of the Aspen Institute's Center for Business Education, said the rankings aim to recognize programs that are "thoughtfully pursuing new approaches [to prepare] students who take a more holistic view of business success."

Business professionals may consider enrolling in classes offered by online schools to diversify theirs skills and stay abreast of emerging trends.
