New MBA degree program focuses on the automotive industry

Monday, Sep 13 2010 10:16PM

Individuals who wish to further themselves in the auto industry could benefit from a new MBA program that focuses on business opportunities and manufacturing aspects.

Reuters reports that over the past year, auto sales have been on a steady incline. Although many car manufacturers slowed their production last year, companies such as General Motors did not need to cut back this summer due to the demand for new vehicles.

These promising sales figures could also mean more jobs will be produced. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in the last year, automotive manufacturing jobs have gone up by 27.5 percent.

Northwood University is one school offering students an MBA program that specializes in the automotive business. Tim Nash, the school's vice president of strategic and corporate alliances, told the After Market News that these courses allow students to "discuss and apply innovative strategies that extend beyond traditional competitive boundaries." The degree can be completed in two years.

As growth is expected, individuals in the automotive industry who are looking to further their education may want to consider obtaining an MBA in this field.
