As more companies continue to expand their international presence, individuals who have learned the business practices of other countries through campus-based or online degree programs may prove particularly valuable to employers. Consequently, several colleges are increasing their efforts to ensure that their MBA degree candidates are familiar with the global business sector.

For instance, North Carolina State University has announced that a student in its Jenkins MBA program is attending the 2010 Canadian Leadership Orientation Program for U.S. MBAs.

The event, which is being held in Montreal this week, is intended to give budding professionals a better understanding of the economic and business partnerships that exist between the U.S. and Canada. The Association of Canadian Studies in the U.S. created the program five years in cooperation with the Tefler School of Management at the University of Ottawa, Foreign Affairs Canada, HEC Montreal and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.

"Canada is our nation's largest partner, and it is important that the next generation of business leaders is familiar with Canadian business practices," said Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs and research at the university's College of Business.
