MBA program launched to help business professionals enter the green sector

In an effort to help business professionals harness the opportunities presented by the green movement, the Polytechnic Institute of New York University has selected the inaugural class for its CleantechExecs program.

A total of 25 New York-based individuals were chosen to participate in the first year of the program, which will teach students how to use clean technology to improve their companies or start their own businesses. The curriculum will cover topics such as energy efficiency, project development, analytics and financing.

Individuals who were accepted into the program represent various industries that could benefit from clean energy projects, including financial services, real estate, building, architecture and hospitality. The course of study also aims to help these students network with technology developers, entrepreneurs, academics and members of the venture community.

Mel Horwitch, a professor in the college's department of technology management, said the program is intended to "offer the essential technology and operational education that, paired with their management expertise, will perfectly position them to lead the clean-tech market in New York City."
