As the business sector grows increasingly more global, many campus-based and online MBA programs are beginning to place an emphasis on an international perspective. While some schools are working the business practices of other cultures into their classroom-based or online courses, other institutions are working to ensure students get a more firsthand understanding of other countries.

For example, Lamar University recently gave its MBA candidates the opportunity to participate in a trip to China. During the excursion, students were exposed to the business practices of the country and gained a stronger understanding of the ways these tactics compare to American techniques.

The degree seekers spent two days in Shanghai, two days in Xi'an and four days in Beijing. In each city, the students toured factories of companies such as Coca-Cola and Hyundai, and met with business professionals. In addition, they had the opportunity to visit several landmarks, including the Futures Exchange and World Expo, the Xi'an history museum, Terra Cotta Warriors, the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China.

School officials say the trip was designed to help degree seekers understand both the cultural and business-related aspects of the country.
