Students who are interested in working as managers for hotels or other travel services will discover that some schools are adding master's degree programs in event tourism. One example is Indiana University (IU), which recently announced it will provide this as an option, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.

IU's new master's is geared toward individuals who are already employed in the tourism industry. Through their courses, students who are enrolled in this program will be able to use research to help their organizations plan for changes in the future, the newspaper reports. These degree seekers will also work on hands-on projects with their professors.

According to the news source, upon graduation, individuals are expected to be qualified for a number of high-level jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry in private or public lines of work. Potential positions for these graduates include management or consulting occupations.

Lodging managers could work at hotels, inns, motels or at businesses, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. These professionals have the potential to earn more than $84,000 per year.
