Master's degrees in development practice could benefit workers in multiple industries

Over the next eight years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that job opportunities for architects will increase by 16 percent. Prospective professionals in this field may find that obtaining a master's degree in development practice (MDP) could result in better job opportunities.
Fortunately, many schools are beginning to offer these courses of study. Emory University recently launched a similar degree program, according to The Emory Wheel.
An MDP focuses on giving individuals experience and knowledge through courses and field training that can lead to success in this of industry. Carla Roncoli, associate director for Emory's course of study, tells the paper that advanced education is essential for "shaping the leaders in development of the future."
Another occupation that may also find this type of degree useful is engineering. In 2008 the average salary for this field was nearly $64,000 annually, according to the BLS.
Individuals may find that by enrolling in similar programs, they could not only make a decent salary, but they may find more job opportunities after they graduate. The BLS reports that having a master's degree in architecture or engineering can better an individuals' chances for workplace advancement.
