Master's degree in entrepreneurial journalism launched
Journalists have the option to work in several different settings. These may include newspapers, magazines or on television as reporters, according to Payscale.com. Individuals who would like to enhance their skills according to changes in technology could consider obtaining a master's degree in this field.
The City University of New York (CUNY) recently announced the launch of a new master's degree program in entrepreneurial journalism. The school also built a new facility, the Tow-Knight Center, which received funding from the Tow Foundation of Wilton, Connecticut for this particular curriculum.
Individuals who enroll in this program will focus on technology, business training, management and research within news and the media. These students will also be trained to present and execute their own ideas within journalistic establishments.
Stephen B. Shepard, dean of the foundation, says the new courses will "build a sustainable future for journalism."
Professionals in this industry may also find studying a new aspect of this field to be useful. The school will allow those who are mid-level in their careers to earn a certificate in entrepreneurial journalism once they complete the program.
Students may find that obtaining a this degree will allow them to gain experience and potentially earn a higher salary. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that individuals who complete a master's can earn about $500 more each week than those who do not have any college credits.
