For many space shuttle employees, jobs only last as long as a mission. However, these professionals may have various educational and career options when their services are no longer needed.

In an effort to help these individuals embark on a new career path, the University of Central Florida recently held a graduate fair to showcase many of its masters-level campus-based and online degree programs, Florida Today reports.

The event, which was held at the Kennedy Space Center, introduced potentially laid-off workers to a variety of industries within which their current skills sets could be useful, including instructional technology, forensic science and criminal justice.

Representatives from the school presented attendees with a variety of online education options, which they could complete while finishing their time in their current jobs or in addition to their job searching efforts.

“We want to highlight things they can do without leaving home,” Denise Young, associate vice president of the school’s southern region campuses, told the news source.

Highly educated space shuttle workers may want to consider entering the aerospace engineering field, which is expected to grow by 10 percent over the next eight years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
