Experts: Campus-based and online MBA programs give consideration to late applicants
Prospective MBA candidates who are worried that they will decrease their chances of admission by submitting their application later in the year are likely to receive equal consideration from many campus-based and online schools, expert suggests.
Representatives from Veritas Prep, an MBA preparation service, have said that candidates who turn in their materials during Round Three of the admissions process tend to receive the same attention as early applicants as long as they take the application process seriously.
Company officials said that many late applicants are likely to assume that their chances of getting into an MBA program are smaller than those who applied earlier. However, some admissions officers say that they presume these candidates have justifiable reasons for delaying their applications and will give them equal consideration.
However, late applicants should not assume that they will gain acceptance by turning in rushed or sloppy materials.
Scott Shrum, director of MBA Admissions Research at Veritas Prep, said that applications that are submitted during Round Three should enable prospective students to "rival those of applicants admitted in Rounds One and Two."
Individuals who are thinking about pursuing their MBA may want to consider enrolling in online courses, which could help them gain the skills they will need to succeed in a masters degree program.
