Expert: MBA programs can benefit professionals at all stages of their careers

For many business professionals, the prospect of going back to school to earn a campus-based or online MBA degree can seem intimidating. Some individuals may feel that they are too old to be in a campus environment, while others might worry that their academic capacities are too rusty to tackle a degree program.

However, some business experts are advocating higher education at all stages of professional development.

For example, John McDonald, executive director of the Ken Blanchard Executive MBA (EMBA) program at Grand Canyon University, recently touted the advantages seasoned professional can reap from graduate-level education.

EMBA programs are typically designed for students who have several years of experience in a leadership position. Enrollees may include mangers, business owners, administrators or board members.

Because these students are already versed in the foundations of business leadership, EMBA curricula tend to focus on helping degree seekers develop and implement their own style of management. In addition, these programs can enable business leaders to cater their operations to the needs of their customers and shareholders, who are general considered to be the most important factors in many companies.
