Executive MBA programs gain worldwide recognition

Professionals who have completed a master's degree can earn nearly twice the weekly salary of those who have not gone to college, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Individuals who wish to increase their earnings could consider enrolling in an executive MBA program as it could lead to high-paying jobs.

Some institutions are gaining global recognition for their executive MBA degrees. For instance, The Wall Street Journal recently ranked the University of Maryland (UM) as one of the top 25 institutions in the world for this type of education.

The school's curriculum covers business disciplines, principles and leadership development for professionals. G. Anand Anandalingam, dean for UM's business department, said that this program provides executives with the "professional development experience they need to lead through uncertain times and take their organizations to the next level."

Individuals who enroll in these courses also learn skills through hands-on projects, as they may be required to set up venture funds and consult businesses.

Professionals who are already working may find that an executive MBA program could help them land jobs in leading businesses. These include the Microsoft Corporation, Bank of America or the Hewlett-Packard Company. Individuals who work at these companies can earn more than $100,000 per year.
