Career fair aims to showcase business jobs in Africa

Individuals planning to pursue an international business career may be interested to hear about a virtual job fair scheduled to be held throughout the fall.

The first African Virtual Job Fair, supported jointly by Zebrajobs.com and the Corporate Council on Africa, will be open from September 30 to December 31, 2009, and has been organized in response to the needs of international companies doing business in Africa.

Yusuf Reja, chief executive officer of Zebrajobs.com, says the project wants to encourage investment and development in Africa.

"Critical to this effort is having a talent base from which [international companies] can staff their operations," he adds.

The fair will allow job seekers - from experienced working adults to recent graduates - to review employment opportunities with development organizations, the donor community, multinational, international or local private organizations as well as government institutions. The resource will also enable them to search the job listings online, submit resumes, attend networking events, access career advice and participate in interviews.

Enrolling in an MBA degree is a great way to obtain the competitive edge that may help an individual secure a rewarding international job. Research suggests average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, and interested candidates have a range of on-site and online degrees to choose from.
