Campus-based and online degree programs can prepare students for consulting careers
In the coming years, the demand for graduates of campus-based and online colleges who are qualified to serve as consultants is expected to grow.
In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the need for consultants in the management, technical and scientific fields is slated to increase by 83 percent over the next eight years.
However, there are very few degree programs that are specifically intended to lead students into these types of positions. Consequently, many campus-based and online schools are beginning to integrate business teachings into various courses of study in order to prepare degree seekers for consulting careers.
For instance, the University of Alabama at Birmingham recently revamped is masters program in biotechnology to include business teachings, the Birmingham Business Journal reports.
Through this initiative, school administrators hope to enhance the biotechnology workforce by generating graduates who can handle a wide variety of tasks, ranging from scientific research to working with clients. In addition, this program could establish Birmingham as a center of development for the industry, according to the news source.
