Campus-based and online colleges launch new programs for engineers

As the demand for engineers continues to grow, many campus-based and online schools are increasing their offerings to ensure that individuals who wish to enter this field are highly qualified.

For instance, Grand Valley State University recently opened the application process for a masters program in biomedical engineering - a field that is projected to grow greatly in the coming years.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), these professionals use engineering techniques to develop devices and procedures that solve medical and health problems. As a result, the university's course of study requires degree seekers to take classes on subjects such as human physiology, engineering principles and medical device design.

Furthermore, these students may have the opportunity to participate in research initiatives, which could give them the hands-on experience they will need to succeed in their careers.

Students who complete these courses of study could have high chances of landing jobs in the future, as the BLS expects that career opportunities for biomedical engineers will increase by 72 percent over the next eight years.
