Business students collaborate to create forum
In an attempt to address and analyze changes to the business sector, a group of students from some of the country's most prominent business schools have partnered to create an assessment forum.
Student presidents of the MBA programs the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University recently held the inaugural meeting of their MBA peer group forum, the Financial Times reports. Topics of discussion at this gathering included ways to handle the economic downturn and nontraditional careers for MBA degree holders.
"Many of us are sensing a heightened interest in the exploration of our roles and responsibilities at the intersection of business and society," Akihisa Shiozaki, student president of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, told the news source.
Although administrators from these schools often meet to discuss emerging issues in the business industry, this is the first student-led attempt to create a similar platform for discussion.
Individuals who choose to earn their MBA from a campus-based or online school could see improved earning potential in a wide variety of industries, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics says that masters degree holders could make as much as $2,000 more per week than professionals without an advanced degree.
