Business students can take online courses in design

Students and working adults who enroll in on-campus or online colleges may have their work showcased through courses in product design, such as those offered by Babson College.

The Wellesley, Massachusetts-based business school has announced it will hold two product design exhibits featuring the work of both graduate and undergraduate students.

Bachelors degree candidates at the school worked with students at Olin College of Engineering and Rhode Island School of Design during a semester-long course in product design and development.

Teams from the three schools created products such as a bike mount for the iPhone, a signaling device for pedestrians and a lighting and storage unit for college students.

MBA candidates at Babson completed a similar graduate-level course. Their designs included a transportation solution for beach trips, scrapbooking software and a medical device for jaundiced newborns in developing countries.

All of the creations will be featured at Babson's Undergraduate Show and MBA Product Design Fair.

Business students may learn product design through similar course offerings at online universities, where they can complete long-term projects on their own schedules.
