Business school launches fellowship program for MBA candidates

To address the growing need for experienced graduates of MBA programs, a Nashville-based university has announced the launch of new fellowship opportunities that will allow students to work while they earn a degree.

The Nashville Business Journal reports that Lipscomb University will begin offering fellowships in healthcare, entertainment and sports next fall. Program participants will be required to work 30 hours and take two night classes per week for 11 months.

John Lowry, assistant dean of the university's School of Executive Education, told the news source that the program is intended to give students the opportunity to receive "a top-quality business education while working in a job in his or her desired field."

Required courses for the program will cover topics such as the managerial environment, accounting for executives, financial management and strategy, strategic management, service operations and marketing as well as leadership perspectives and practices, according to the news source.

Tuition for the program is $31,800 per student, and participants will receive a stipend of $1,500 per month to cover some living expenses.
