Business school hosts conference on innovations in publishing
In an attempt to connect the business sector with the publishing industry, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania has announced it will hold a conference devoted to emerging trends in the media.
The event, entitled Future of Publishing: Technology, Publishing and Academia Build a Forum for Solutions, will enable attendees to network with high-profile publishing executives, including Gordon Crovitz, former publisher of The Wall Street Journal, and Martin Nisenholtz, senior vice president for digital operations at The New York Times.
During the one-day conference, industry professionals will examine the ways technology has impacted publishing and how innovations will affect the future of the field. Topics of discussion will include the ways technologies will change consumers' needs, strategies publishers can use to adapt to these changes and how publishing education at campus-based and online colleges is expected to evolve.
Alberto Vitale, founder of the Wharton Lab for Innovation in Publishing, said the conference is intended to show how "digital technology has originated a true revolution in all fields of publishing."
The event will take place on April 30 in New York City.
