ASU will start a new MBA program

Officials from Arizona State University recently announced plans to start an MBA program on their West campus if enough students sign up to participate in the program.

"We are announcing we will offer (the MBA) out there if there is sufficient demand," said Amy Hillman, the school's executive dean, quoted by the Arizona Republic. "We would love to see demand for our programs grow so we can offer all of our programs out there."

The program will be launched if at least 35 students join. Many of ASU's West campus graduate programs were cut recently to address an $88 million deficit, but local business and community leaders persuaded officials not to dismantle all of the graduate programs on offer.

Business students attending the West campus were all absorbed by the W.P. Carey School of Business at the Tempe campus.

Even so, Hillman says that W.P. Carey administrators are working toward boosting enrollment in an MBA program at the West campus. To that end, Dean Robert Mittelstaedt of W.P. Carey is planning a series of high-level meetings with local business leaders to discuss recruitment plans, starting with the board of directors at the Western Maricopa Coalition.
