St. Cloud State University (SCSU) has recently announced that it will add several online courses for people interested in careers in medical transcription as well as medical billing and coding.

The school's continuing studies program will partner with Career Step, a healthcare education company, to offer training to people interested in the field of medical administration.

Students who register for online courses by January 29, and who begin the class within 15 days, will receive a free laptop computer from Career Step.

SCSU will hold two open houses dedicated to the new programs on January 14 to discuss details of the offer and walk potential students through information sessions.

Online training in the healthcare field is growing by nearly 20 percent, making it the fastest growing industry in the online education sector.

Universities that offer online degree programs may be attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do so in a traditional setting.
