Schools share programs to make nursing degrees attainable
Registered nurses (RNs) make up the largest occupation in healthcare and account for approximately 2.6 million jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Students who are interested in this profession will find that some schools are combining their efforts to make nursing degrees more accessible.
For example, Utah State University (USU) and Weber State University (WSU) recently partnered to help individuals who would like to become RNs do so in a simpler fashion, the Utah Statesman reports.
According to the news source, WSU provides a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), so students who wish to obtain their associate's can enroll at WSU and complete the courses at USU.
Enrollees will take classes on various topics, including nursing care, medical or surgical intervention, diagnostic procedures and the use of specialized equipment, the news provider reports. Students will also interact with professionals who are already working in the healthcare industry.
Upon completion of the two-year education, graduates can apply for the BSN program at WSU.
Similar courses of study could prepare students for RN positions. According to the BLS, there will be 581,500 new jobs for these professionals over the next eight years.
