School set to offer online courses in healthcare

Dawn Career Institute (DCI) has recently announced that it will begin offering online courses next semester in the ever-expanding field of healthcare.

Starting next month, DCI will launch online programs that lead to careers in medical billing and coding as well as medical administrative work.

"Online learning [is] a way we can extend our programs to students whose lives didn't fit into our already flexible offerings," said executive vice president Cheryl Zapata. "With online programs, our students will be able to follow through on the education they've always wanted according to their schedule, not ours."

While learning about the administrative side of healthcare, students will be trained to understand the basic concepts of anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine and medical terminology. Graduates may see employment opportunities in doctor's offices as well as insurance companies.

Today, over 3.5 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
