Online RN-to-BSN programs attract working professionals
Despite the current rate of unemployment, nurses continue to have numerous job prospects. Professionals in this industry who have advanced degrees could have even better career options, as these professionals may qualify for managerial positions.
Schools such as Jacksonville University are creating accelerated online registered nurse (RN)-to-bachelor's of nursing (BSN) programs in an effort to meet the growing demand for trained workers in this field. The university offers six eight-week sessions per year.
"Today's adult learners are increasingly interested in flexible programs from accredited, nationally recognized schools," said Adrian Marrullier, executive vice president of student services for the university. "They understand the significant impact a university degree can have on their income and appreciate the convenience online nursing school programs afford."
RNs can begin the program within two months of their acceptance. The online RN-to-BSN program features a video-based e-learning platform through which students can view lectures and coursework anytime via streaming video, CD-ROM, chat rooms, discussion boards and email.
Jacksonville University's School of Nursing is regionally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
