Grantham University unveils new medical billing and coding program
Grantham University, an accredited provider of online degree programs, has announced the launch of a new certificate of learning in medical billing and coding program.
The new offering was designed to help students prepare for the American Health Information Management Associations (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate exam, which needs to be successfully completed before a graduate can enter the burgeoning healthcare field.
"We are very excited to add the certificate of learning to expand our medical coding and billing offerings," said Cynthia Akagi, chair of Grantham University's Health Sciences Programs.
"The certificate of learning not only provides our students with an additional educational option, it also fulfills a need for qualified coders and billers in the rapidly growing healthcare industry," she added.
Students enrolled in the new program will be trained to be able to identify medical language and abbreviations as well as learn how to operate healthcare coding and billing software commonly used in the field. Those who attain the certificate can apply their 28 credit hours toward an associates degree program if they choose to continue their education.
