Wisconsin students at online universities have financial aid options

Foundation awards scholarships to nontraditional learners
Working adults in Wisconsin who wish to enroll in online courses to enhance their career prospects may consider applying for scholarships, such as those offered by the Fall River Area Hospital Foundation.
The organization has announced the most recent beneficiaries of its biannual Health Careers Scholarship Program for Nontraditional Students, the Fall River Journal reports.
The program is intended to help students who plan to pursue careers in the healthcare industry, particularly those who are looking for jobs in fields that are experiencing shortages. Qualified students may apply for this year's second round of awards through March.
Candidates are required to live in a region of the state that is served by the foundation. Applicants must also show proof of acceptance at an accredited program and have a least one year of work experience after high school.
Individuals who have worked in hospitals, have demonstrable financial need and show potential for academic excellence will be given special preference from the selection committee.
Through the scholarship, the organization aims to encourage "more people from our region to consider careers in healthcare," Heather Logelin, executive director of the foundation, told the Pierce County Herald.
Nontraditional students may consider similar financial aid opportunities to help them finance online degree programs.
