U.S. Bank opens scholarship program to on-campus and online degree candidates
U.S. Bank has announced it will open its 14th annual Internet Scholarship Program to students currently enrolled in on-campus or online universities.
The program, which was previously only available to graduating high school seniors, will offer 10 more scholarships this year to assist students already enrolled in a four-year degree program.
Using a random drawing process, the back will select a maximum of 40 winners for $1,000 awards to help them fund higher education.
The bank decided to offer additional scholarships and broaden its applicant pool this year to "address the economic challenges that many students and their families are experiencing," said Beth Dinndorf, senior vice president and manager of U.S. Bank's student banking division.
To be eligible, applicants must be graduating high school seniors or undergraduate students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in a four-year degree program in the fall semester. Students must also be using the bank's No Fee Education Loan program to help pay for their educational endeavors.
Winners will be notified next spring. Qualified students can apply for the scholarships on the bank's website through March 2010.
