Students or working adults who wish to begin or continue their educational pursuits at an on-campus or online university may find financial support through scholarship programs such as the one offered by Champs Sports.

The athletic retailer has announced it will open its annual Are You a Champs Sports Champion? scholarship program for the sixth year.

Through the program, the company will disburse $50,000 in scholarship awards to 23 students to help them pay for tuition.

A total of 20 winners will be selected to receive $1,500 awards and three students will receive $5,000 scholarships. The three finalists will also win a trip to the company's Champs Sports Bowl, where they will have the opportunity to compete for another $5,000 prize.

To be eligible for the awards, students must be 14 years of age. Adult learners are also encouraged to apply, as there are no maximum age limits enforced by the program, according the Champs website.

Qualified candidates may apply for the awards by explaining in 300 words or less how they contribute to their team, which may be their family, school, community or athletic squad.

Working adults may seek similar scholarship opportunities with minimal age requirements to help them continue their education.
