Students pursuing online degrees may enter essay-writing competitions
High school seniors who wish to enroll in campus-based or online colleges next year may fund their education through writing contests, such as the one offered by Florida Realtors.
The organization has announced it will afford students the opportunity to win as much as $6,000 to put toward tuition costs through its Florida Realtors 2009-2010 Scholarship and Essay Contest.
Eligible students may enter the competition by writing an essay of 500 words or less that explains how they feel real estate professionals benefit their communities.
In their entries, applicants may describe roles of different of realtors, the benefits of homeownership or the economic payoffs of real estate.
The organization will award 13 individual $1,000 scholarships to regional winners, who will be able to compete for three additional $5,000 awards.
Florida residents who plan to pursue postsecondary education at any college, university, trade school or other institute of higher learning may enter the contest.
Graduating high school seniors may consider entering similar contests that can help them finance higher education at classroom-based or online universities.
