Students can earn scholarships to study performing arts at online colleges
Individuals who wish to become performing artists may be able to pay for online courses through financial aid programs, such as those that are available through the Princess Grace Foundation-USA.
The organization, which was created in memory of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, has opened the application process for its 2010 Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Playwriting, Dance Performance, Choreography and Film.
Through the program, theater students will receive scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships based on past work, potential and the expected impact of a students' artistic growth. Playwriting students will have the opportunity to fulfill a residency at New Dramatists and have their plays published. March 31 is the deadline for these awards.
Dance and choreography students - who must apply for the awards by April 30 - may compete for scholarships, fellowships and the opportunity to work with professionals in their fields.
Students who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate film programs must be invited by their deans or department chairs before June 1 to apply for scholarships.
Applicants for all awards must be U.S. citizens who have been nominated by a nonprofit organization that they wish to work with while they pursue a campus-based or online degree.
