Secondary students who wish to pursue higher education through a campus-based or online degree program may be able to receive financial aid through scholarship competitions, such as the America's Greenest School Contest.

For the second year, IC Bus has announced it will provide financial assistance to one student who presents a winning idea to make their school more environmentally friendly.

To enter the contest, students should present their vision of how to make their school greener by creating a photo collection, music, a video, an essay, a diorama, a collage or original artwork. A total of 10 finalists will be selected, and their entries will be posted online for a public vote.

In partnership with alternative rock band The Maine, the transportation company will give one student a $3,000 college scholarship. In addition, the winner's school will receive a $150,000 hybrid school bus as well as a $20,000 green makeover and LEED school audit.

High school students may want to consider applying for similar financial aid opportunities before they enroll in a campus-based or online school.
