Prospective online degree candidates can apply for Hood scholarships
High school seniors who are planning to enroll in a campus-based or online college next year may wish to apply for scholarships, such as those that are being offered by Hood.
To recognize high school athletes who have excelled in their schools and communities, the dairy company has opened the application process for its Hood Good Sport Scholarship Program.
Student-athletes who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year degree program after they graduate from a high school in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont may be eligible to apply for the awards, which are worth $5,000 each.
Candidates must show proof of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and community service. Each student is also required to write an essay detailing their commitment to sportsmanship on their teams and in their lives.
A panel of judges will select the top 15 applicants from each state to participate in personal interviews, after which three winners will be selected from each region. These scholarship recipients will be invited to an awards ceremony, where they will be inducted into the Hood Good Sport Hall of Fame and receive recognition from a Boston Red Sox player.
