High school students who are planning to enroll in campus-based or online colleges after graduation may be able to receive scholarships, such as those that are currently available through Best Buy.

The electronics and entertainment retailer has announced the availability of tuition assistance through its @15 Scholarship program.

Students in grades nine through 12 who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate degree program at a campus-based or online school are invited to apply for the awards, which are worth $1,000 each. These scholarships will be awarded on a one-time basis and are not eligible for renewal.

Applicants should be able to prove work experience or recent participation in volunteer activities and exceptional academic performance. They must also be members of the company's @15 platform, which is intended to help Best Buy connect with its teenage customers.

Through the scholarship program, the company aims to give high school students "the tools they need to drive change and make a difference for themselves as well as in their communities," said Brian J. Dunn, president and COO of Best Buy.

Students who enroll in online courses may be able to complete their studies while they participate in efforts to improve their communities.
