Prospective freshmen at online universities can enter scholarship contests

High school students who wish to enter campus-based or online colleges in the future may be able to receive financial assistance by wearing duct tape to their proms.

Duck Brands, a company that manufactures adhesive products, has opened the application process for its 10th annual Stuck at Prom competition.

High school students who live in the U.S. and Canada and who are over the age of 14 years may enter the contest, which will award scholarships to its winners.

To compete, individuals who are attending their prom must create original formal attire using Duck Brand's duct tape and submit a photograph of their creations.

Judges will select 10 finalist based on the workmanship, creativity, use of color, inclusion of accessories and amount of duct tape used in their designs. These submissions will be posted on the company's website and submitted to a vote by general public.

The top three winners will receive $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 awards, respectively. Scholarships worth $500 will be given to each of the runners up.

Students who plan to pursue campus-based or online degrees may participate in similar contests that can help them pay for tuition.
