Prospective freshmen at online colleges may receive financial aid from Kohl's
Students who are planning to enroll in a campus-based or online university after they graduate from high school may want to begin seeking financial assistance through scholarship programs, such as the one that is offered by Kohl's Department Stores.
The retailer has opened the nomination process for its 10th annual Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, which will benefit students who are actively involved in their communities.
Individuals who are older than 21 are eligible to nominate students between six and 18 years of age through March 15 on the company's website.
Kohl's officials will select two nominees from each of its stores to receive a $50 gift card and will award $1,000 scholarships to nearly 200 students.
A total of 10 grand prize awardees will win $10,000 scholarships. In addition, the retailer will donate $1,000 to the charity of each winners' choice.
Since the program's inception, more than 11,000 students have receive tuition assistance totaling $2.2 million.
Students who are active in their communities may want to consider using similar financial aid programs to pay for online courses, which could allow them to continue their volunteer activities while they pursue higher education.
