Organization's new campaign could benefit online degree candidates
Students and working adults who choose to enroll in online courses may finance their education by seeking financial aid opportunities, such as those offered by Scholarship America.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the organization has launched a public service announcement campaign, which began in New York City during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Through New Year's Eve, a 15-second advertisement asking scholarship students to share their experiences will air on the CBS Super Screen in Times Square.
Students who wish to share their stories may do so on Scholarship America's website, where they will be published. Print versions of students' experiences will also be distributed.
The campaign is intended to raise awareness about the benefits of privately funded scholarships and help the organization "gain additional recognition and support" for its own awards programs, said Mim Schreck, president of Scholarship America.
To date, the company has provided more than $2 billion in financial aid to more than two million college students.
Individuals who require financial assistance to reach their educational goals may consider enrolling in online universities so they may continue to work while they earn a degree.
